4 MOST HARMFUL INGREDIENTS IN PACKAGED FOODS

Most of Americans’ household food budget is spent on processed foods, the majority of which are filled with additives and stripped of nutrients. Discover which common ingredients in the foods you eat pose the greatest risk to your health.
Grab the broccoli with cheese sauce from the freezer, the box of instant rice pilaf from the pantry, or the hot dogs from your fridge and squint at the ingredient list’s fine print. You’ll likely find food additives in every one.
Is this healthy? Compared to the foods our bodies were built to eat, definitely not.
Processed, packaged foods have almost completely taken over the diet of Americans. Unfortunately, most processed foods are laden with sweeteners, salts, artificial flavors, factory-created fats, colorings, chemicals that alter texture, and preservatives. But the trouble is not just what’s been added, but what’s been taken away. Processed foods are often stripped of nutrients designed by nature to protect your heart, such as soluble fiber, antioxidants, and “good” fats. Combine that with additives, and you have a recipe for disaster.

HERE ARE THE BIG FOUR INGREDIENTS IN PROCESSED FOODS YOU SHOULD LOOK OUT FOR:

TRANS FATS

Artificial trans fats (or trans fatty acids) are created in an industrial process that adds hydrogen to liquid vegetable oils to make them more solid. The primary dietary source for trans fats in processed food is “partially hydrogenated oils." 1
Trans fats are in moist bakery muffins and crispy crackers, microwave popcorn and fast-food French fries, even the stick margarine you may rely on as a “heart-healthy” alternative to saturated-fat-laden butter.
Once hailed as a cheap, heart-friendly replacement for butter, lard and coconut oil, trans fats have been denounced by one Harvard nutrition expert as “the biggest food-processing disaster in U.S. history.” Why? Research now reveals trans fats are twice as dangerous for your heart as saturated fat, and cause an estimated 30,000 to 100,000 premature heart disease deaths each year.
Trans fats are worse for your heart than saturated fats because they boost your levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol and decrease “good” HDL cholesterol. That’s double trouble for your arteries. And unlike saturated fats, trans fats also raise your levels of artery-clogging lipoprotein and triglycerides.
Check the ingredient list for any of these words: “partially hydrogenated,” “fractionated,” or “hydrogenated” (fully hydrogenated fats are not a heart threat, but some trans fats are mislabeled as “hydrogenated”). The higher up the phrase “partially hydrogenated oil” is on the list of ingredients, the more trans fat the product contains.

Replacing trans fats with good fats could cut your heart attack risk by a whopping 53 percent.
Trans fat is considered by many doctors to be the worst type of fat you can eat. Unlike other dietary fats, trans fat — also called trans-fatty acids — both raises your LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and lowers your HDL (“good”) cholesterol.

A high LDL cholesterol level in combination with a low HDL cholesterol level increases your risk of heart disease, the leading killer of men and women. Here’s some information about trans fat and how to avoid it.

REFINED GRAINS
Choosing refined grains such as white bread, rolls, sugary low-fiber cereal, white rice, or white pasta over whole grains can boost your heart attack risk by up to 30 percent. You’ve got to be a savvy shopper.

Don’t be fooled by deceptive label claims such as “made with wheat flour” or “seven grain.” Or by white-flour breads topped with a sprinkling of oats, or colored brown with molasses. Often, they’re just the same old refined stuff that raises risk for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart attacks, insulin resistance, diabetes, and belly fat.

At least seven major studies show that women and men who eat more whole grains (including dark bread, whole-grain breakfast cereals, popcorn, cooked oatmeal, brown rice, bran, and other grains like bulgur or kasha) have 20 to 30 percent less heart disease. In contrast, those who opt for refined grains have more heart attacks, insulin resistance, and high blood pressure.

Read the ingredient list on packaged grain products. If the product is one of those that are best for you, the first ingredients should be whole wheat or another whole grain, such as oats. The fiber content should be at least 3 grams per serving.

SALT
Three-quarters of the sodium in our diets isn’t from the saltshaker. It’s hidden in processed foods, such as canned vegetables and soups, condiments like soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce, fast-food burgers (and fries, of course), and cured or preserved meats like bacon, ham, and deli turkey.
Some sodium occurs naturally in unprocessed edibles, including milk, beets, celery, even some drinking water. And that’s a good thing: Sodium is necessary for life. It helps regulate blood pressure, maintains the body’s fluid balance, transmits nerve impulses, makes muscles — including your heart — contract, and keeps your senses of taste, smell, and touch working properly. You need a little every day to replace what’s lost to sweat, tears, and other excretions
What happens when you eat more salt than your body needs? Your body retains fluid simply to dilute the extra sodium in your bloodstream. This raises blood volume, forcing your heart to work harder; at the same time, it makes veins and arteries constrict. The combination raises blood pressure.
Your limit should be 1,500 milligrams of sodium per day, about the amount in three-fourths of a teaspoon of salt. (Table salt, by the way, is 40 percent sodium, 60 percent chloride.) Older people should eat even less, to counteract the natural rise in blood pressure that comes with age. People over 50 should strive for 1,300 mg; those over 70 should aim for 1,200 mg.
Only the “Nutrition Facts” panel on a food package will give you the real sodium count. Don’t believe claims on the package front such as “sodium-free” (foods can still have 5 mg per serving); “reduced sodium” (it only means 25 percent less than usual); or “light in sodium” (half the amount you’d normally find).

HIGH-FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP
What is it? First, let's take a look at fructose. Fructose is a naturally occurring simple sugar that's produced by many plants. It's very sweet, and it's more soluble in water than glucose, another simple sugar that's also made readily available by nature and is the body's main source of energy. Fructose and glucose have the same type of atoms but are put together differently. When you combine fructose with glucose, you wind up with sucrose, which is your basic table sugar.
Corn syrup is a glucose-heavy syrup made from corn starch. There's no fructose in corn syrup -- not naturally, at least. In 1957, researchers discovered an enzyme that could turn the glucose in corn syrup into fructose. This process was modified and improved upon in the 1970s, making it possible to mass-produce high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS). The corn is genetically modified by Monsanto.

Compared to traditional sweeteners, high-fructose corn syrup costs less to make, is sweeter to the taste, and mixes more easily with other ingredients. Today, we consume nearly 63 pounds of it per person per year in drinks and sweets, as well as in other products. High-fructose corn syrup is in many frozen foods. It gives bread an inviting, brown color and soft texture, so it’s also in whole-wheat bread, hamburger buns, and English muffins. It is in beer, bacon, spaghetti sauce, soft drinks, and even ketchup.

Research is beginning to suggest that this liquid sweetener may upset the human metabolism, raising the risk for heart disease and diabetes. Researchers say that high-fructose corn syrup’s chemical structure encourages overeating. It also seems to force the liver to pump more heart-threatening triglycerides into the bloodstream. In addition, fructose may zap your body’s reserves of chromium, a mineral important for healthy levels of cholesterol, insulin, and blood sugar.
To spot fructose on a food label, look for the words “corn sweetener,” “corn syrup,” or “corn syrup solids” as well as “high-fructose corn syrup.”

These “health” food products all contain high fructose corn syrup

  1. Yoplait Yogurt
Every variety of Yoplait contains HFCS! How much do you think it really costs The Premium Yogurt (aka Yoplait) to slap some ultra-pasteurized milk products, a dash of pectin, and a swig of sweetener into each pretty little personalized bucket de diabetes?

  1. Salad Dressings: Oh, the Love!
Most salad dressings contain corn syrup, but “lite” and “reduced calorie” versions are brimming with it. Prior to the no-fat craze, salad dressings were typically made with cheap, poor-quality corn oil. Now they’re made with cheap, poor-quality corn syrup. Dump them (as in break up with them, not dump them on your salads). Make your own dressings at home from cheeses, lemon juice, olive oil or balsamic vinegar.

  1. “Smart” Ice Cream Sandwiches
Many of the low-calorie ice cream treats are packed with upwards of 20 grams of this nutritionally deficient sweetener.

  1. Special K
It’s high time for cereals to stop proclaiming health benefits. Made from grains, gums and sugars, there’s nothing smart about cereal for breakfast, no matter how special it may be. Self-esteem for breakfast?

  1. Cereals with the Heart Healthy Claims
Many breakfast cereals are loaded with sugars and processed junk, but because they have a few grams of fiber or are low in fat (big deal), they are promoted as health foods. Just steer clear of the middle aisles, period.

  1. 100 Calorie Snack Packs
When was the last time anybody starved? We’re all in favor of portion control, but what’s in the package matters. You’re much better off eating 100 calories of almonds or sugar snap peas than some processed cookie confection. Although we know this might make a few friends a little cranky.

HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF.

  1. Flush Out Trans Fat from the Body
Trans fat is one of the major causes of weight gain, cancer, heart disease, liver malfunctions and diabetes. Trans fat fills the body with toxins in the form of fat causing fatigue, digestive problems etc. Flushing out trans fat from the body can help your body maintain a healthy equilibrium. Trans fat is common in fried foods, baked items etc.

You need to cleanse and detox your body to begin the process of eliminating trans fats from your body.

Abstinence from these can stop the continued intake of trans fat but to have a healthy body you need to flush out trans fat.

  1. Eat well

These non- foods/toxic foods need to be replaced with whole foods (think lots of fresh green and brightly colored produce) healthy fats and proteins and of course plenty of filtered water. While the specific foods that serve you are quite bio individual, certainly, eating organic produce and pasture or wild caught animal products is a good place for all of us to begin.

GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISMS (GMO’s); THE ENEMY OF LIFE ON PLANET.

“Control the oil, and you control nations. Control the food, and you control the people.”* -Henry Kissenger

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO’s) foods is the enemy of mankind, threatens the very basis of life on our planet.
Genetically modified organisms (GMO’s) are just what the name implies. Organisms, in this case foods that have been altered genetically.
Genetically modified foods alter genetic codes of the DNA in an organism by wiring in genes from other forms of life including other plant forms, insecticides, pesticides, bacteria and viruses.
Michael Welch, Dr. Vandana Shiva, and F. William Engdahl put it ‘’ Genetic Engineering is the direct manipulation of the coding sequence, or genome, within the cell of an organism. It proceeds by taking genetic information found within the DNA molecule and tampering with it, by inserting new genetic information. The organism that develops from this newly formed DNA strand will typically have different traits and characteristics from those which would have formed from the untampered DNA’’.

Most GMO foods today have been modified to tolerate or produce pesticides (like canola oil).

According to a report by Dr. Oz, more than eighty percent of the foods we eat on a daily basis contain one or more type of GMO. And what’s more distressing is that the United States Department of Agriculture (U.S.D.A.) doesn’t require these foods to be labeled.
WHEN IT COMES TO PRODUCTS WITH THE POTENTIAL TO DEVASTATE THE PLANET, MONSANTO TAKES THE CAKE.
GMOs are an anti-human technology. They threaten the continuation of life on our planet. They are a far worse threat than terrorism, or even the threat of nuclear war. 1
“It’s impossible to overreact” to the far-reaching destruction of Monsanto, its jackal scientists, and the corrupt, money-fueled political process that promotes such abomination. We are engaged in genetic war, a “far worse threat than either terrorism or nuclear war.” 2
There is no longer any legitimate, scientific defense of growing GM crops for human consumption. The only people still clinging to the outmoded myth that “GMOs are safe” are scientific mercenaries with financial ties to Monsanto and the biotech industry. 3

Monsanto never intended to "Feed the World". Their only intention is to "Feed the Shareholders"

The activities of Mosanto, the number one GMO company having far reaching effect. Recently two Hollywood actors expressed their opinions on the activities of Monsanto.

It’s not every day you meet the head of Monsanto, which is why actor Mark Ruffalo knew he needed to take advantage of the opportunity and speak out for millions when he addressed the company’s CEO, Hugh Grant.

Earlier this year, Morgan Freeman made a guest appearance on Larry King Now. After discovering that bees are dying at an alarming rate. Monsanto’s herbicide RoundUp has in fact contributed to the decline in bee population. Research has shown that when bees consume Monsanto’s insecticide for GM corn crops, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), it attaches to receptors in their stomach lining and prevents them from eating.
This breaks down the stomach wall, rendering bees more susceptible to spores and bacteria and ultimately weakening their immune systems. Read More.

Monsanto.
‘’Founded in 1901, Monsanto Chemical Company has manufactured industrial chamicals (e.g. sulphuric acid), plastics and synthetics, pesticides and saccharin, a carcinogenic artificial sweetener. It has also produced or granted production licenses for most of the world's polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB's). These oily, insulating fluids cause brain damage in mammalian fetuses and other birth defects, immune system disorders and cancers. The public became aware of PCB's in 1968, when PCB-contaminated rice made 1,300 people in Kyush, Japan sick; and serious birth defects appeared in Babies whose mothers had eaten it. Monsanto had known since the late 1930's that PCR's damaged health because of the effect on its workers.

Monsanto's herbicide 2,4,5,-T contained a highly toxic chemical byproduct, the dioxin TCDD. This herbicide was one of two used in Agent Orange, a defoliant used by the US military in Vietnam. Although Monsanto was not the only company that produced Agent Orange, its products contained the highest levels of dioxin.’’ (A History of Monsanto(from Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients-January 2000))

Mosanto and the Government.

''Monsanto Controls both the White House and the US Congress'' (Josh Sager).
''Monsanto Controls both the White House and the US Congress'' (Josh Sager).
Josh Sager in his article publish at globalresearch.ca states ‘’throughout his first term, President Obama has presided over the passage of several Monsanto-friendly legislative initiatives and has appointed numerous people associated with Monsanto to high-level positions.’’

‘’The federal government had several opportunities to pass legislation and executive initiatives which affect Monsanto. Of these federal initiatives, the 2010 African hunger plan and the 2012 Farm Bill present the most important examples of the Obama administration’s friendly attitude towards Monsanto.’’ (Josh Sager)

All Credit for this Venn diagram goes to Geke.us
‘’While there are numerous points of overlap between Monsanto and the United States Government under the Obama administration, the three most important connections are that of Michael Taylor, Roger, Beachy, and Islam Siddiqui—all three of these Monsanto affiliates were appointed to high level positions within the government by the Obama administration.’’ (Josh Sager)

Mosanto and the FDA
Josh Sager emphasis that Monsanto also controls key appointments to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and No Matter Who Wins a Presidential Election, Monsanto interests will be served.
Monsanto's recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH) sold under the name Posilac, makes cows produce more milk than is normal. When the FDA approved Posilac for commercial use in 1994, Margret Miller and Suzanne Sechen, both former Monsanto employees, were the deputy director of the FDA’s Office of New animal drugs and the lead reviewer of scientific data on rBGH, respectively (http://www.lightparty.com/Health/HistoryOfMonsanto.html).

“Michael Taylor, the FDA commissioner responsible for writing the labeling guidelines, had worked as a Monsanto lawyer for seven years before joining the FDA. There are many more ties between Monsanto and the U.S. government today, including Supreme Court Justices, the FDA, and the Environmental Protection Agency” (http://www.sustainabletable.org/issues/rbgh/).

GMO article extract by renowned health author and New York Times bestselling author Dr. Mercola.

GMO FOODS KNOWINGLY CAUSE CANCER IN RATS - ARE YOU EATING IT?
By Dr. Mercola
Monsanto, the chemical manufacturer turned agricultural giant, is indeed gaining control over the world’s population, one seed at a time. This company has single-handedly created some of the most destructive products known to man, including polychlorinated biphenyls, known as PCBs, and dioxin (Agent Orange). They are also the world leader in genetically modified (GM) seeds -- and if we don't take action soon, the entire planet could soon become contaminated with these toxic seeds, leading to the complete destruction of the natural food supply.

United States Chooses to Ignore the Precautionary Principle, Embrace Monsanto's GM Foods
The United States is one country, however, that has fully embraced GM foods on a regulatory level, and does not appear to have any intentions of following the precautionary principle. GM corn, soybeans, canola, and sugar beets have made their way into approximately 80 percent of current U.S. processed grocery store items, now that up to 90 percent of several U.S.grown crops are grown with genetically engineered seed.
So if you live in the United States, you have most certainly already been exposed to GM foods -- most likely a lot of them.
Meanwhile, GM seeds are banned in Hungary, as they are in several other European countries, such as Germany and Ireland. These countries have chosen NOT to allow their land to be used as a testing ground in a massive uncontrollable experiment, which is essentially what the introduction of GM crops is.

Not surprisingly, according to information from Wikileaks, there are also indications that the U.S. State Department has been active in defending Monsanto in other countries, particularly in response to the French documentary, "The World According to Monsanto," which condemned Monsanto's criminal behavior.

GM foods are, from my perception, one of the most significant threats that we have against the very sustainability of the human race. Why? In a nutshell, these toxins are being linked to a growing repertoire of assaults against human health and the environment – and they are already migrating into fetal blood, which means future generations are now at risk.
Some GM crops, such as GM sugar beets and certain varieties of GM corn and soy, are engineered to withstand otherwise lethal doses of Monsanto's herbicide Roundup. Other GM crops, such as Bt corn, are designed to produce their own pesticide internally.
Earlier this year, Cry1Ab, a specific type of Bt toxin from GM crops, has for the first time been detected in human and fetal blood samples. It appears the toxin is quite prevalent, as upon testing 69 pregnant and non-pregnant women who were eating a typical Canadian diet (which included foods such as GM soy, corn and potatoes), researchers found Bt toxin in:

·         93 percent of blood samples of pregnant women
·         80 percent of fetal blood samples
·         69 percent of non-pregnant women blood samples
"There's already plenty of evidence that the Bt-toxin produced in GM corn and cotton plants is toxic to humans and mammals and triggers immune system responses. The fact that it flows through our blood supply, and that is passes through the placenta into fetuses, may help explain the rise in many disorders in the US since Bt crop varieties were first introduced in 1996.
In government-sponsored research in Italy, mice fed Monsanto's Bt corn showed a wide range of immune responses. Their elevated IgE and IgG antibodies, for example, are typically associated with allergies and infections. The mice had an increase in cytokines, which are associated with "allergic and inflammatory responses."

As you may know, chronic inflammation is at the root of many increasingly common diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease. Food allergies are also skyrocketing, as is infertility, which could also be a potential side effect of GM foods, based on results from animal studies. Monsanto insists that GM foods are no different from conventionally grown varieties, but the research does NOT support this claim. Here is just a sampling of the unsavory findings associated with GM foods:

  • GM pea protein cause lung damage in mice.
  • Offspring of rats fed GM soy showed a five-fold increase in mortality, lower birth weights, and the inability to reproduce.
  • GM potatoes may cause cancer in rats.
  • Male mice fed GM soy had damaged young sperm cells.
  • Bacteria in your gut can take up DNA from GM food.
  • The embryo offspring of GM soy-fed mice had altered DNA functioning.
  • GM foods lead to significant organ disruptions in rats and mice, specifically the kidney, liver, heart and spleen.
  • Several US farmers reported sterility or fertility problems among pigs and cows fed on GM corn varieties.
  • Bt corn caused a wide variety of immune responses in mice, commonly associated with diseases such as arthritis, Lou Gehrig's disease, osteoporosis, and inflammatory bowel disease.
  • Investigators in India have documented fertility problems, abortions, premature births, and other serious health issues, including deaths, among buffaloes fed GM cottonseed products.

Have You Heard of rBGH?
You may be aware that many corn and soy crops in the United States are GM, but it may surprise you to learn that a significant portion of U.S. milk is actually genetically engineered, again thanks to Monsanto. This milk, and the ice cream, cheese, and myriad of other dairy products made from it, contains genetically engineered bovine growth hormone, or rBGH.
What is rBGH
‘’rBGH is a genetically engineered artificial hormone injected into dairy cows to make them produce more milk. Despite opposition from scientists, farmers and consumers, the US currently allows dairy cows to be injected with recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH), also known as recombinant bovine somatotropin (rBST). Originally manufactured by the Monsanto Corporation, this genetically engineered hormone forces cows to artificially increase milk production by 10 to 15 percent. Today, controversy over safety still surrounds the use of rBGH.’’(https://rakabe.wordpress.com/2010/04/).

U.S. milk producers treat their dairy cattle with rBGH because it boosts milk production. But this artificial growth hormone also increases udder infections in cows, leading to pus in the milk along with excessive use of antibiotics in the cows, which is triggering the creation of antibiotic-resistant superbugs and leaving residues of antibiotics in your dairy. Worse still, milk treated with rBGH also contains higher levels of insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1), a hormone linked to breast, prostate and colon cancers in humans.

Monsanto's Environmental Damage Continues
First came Agent Orange and PCBs, and now we have glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto's nonselective broad-spectrum herbicide Roundup. Massive acreage of soybeans, cotton, and corn grown in the United States contain the GM Roundup Ready gene -- and all of these crops receive numerous applications of Roundup each and every year.
But Roundup is proving to be no match for Mother Nature. It's estimated that more than 130 types of weeds spanning 40 U.S. states are now herbicide-resistant, and the superweeds are showing no signs of stopping. In fact, it's getting progressively worse. Extremely hardy Roundup-resistant weeds are already boosting costs and cutting crop yields for U.S. farmers. And with world food stores already strained, diminished crop production is a serious problem.
"An estimated 11 million acres are infested with "super weeds," some of which grow several inches in a day and defy even multiple dousings of the world's top-selling herbicide, Roundup... The problem's gradual emergence has masked its growing menace.
Now, however, it is becoming too big to ignore.
... "I'm convinced that this is a big problem," said Dave Mortensen, professor of weed and applied plant ecology at Penn State University, who has been helping lobby members of Congress about the implications of weed resistance. "Most of the public doesn't know because the industry is calling the shots on how this should be spun," Mortensen said."
But the environmental impact doesn't end with the emergence of superweeds threatening our crops. Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, is also contaminating our soils and waterways, posing great risk to plant- and wildlife. A couple of years ago, a French court found Monsanto guilty of falsely advertising its herbicide as "biodegradable," "environmentally friendly" and claiming it "left the soil clean." The truth is that Roundup is anything BUT environmentally friendly. Monsanto's own tests showed that only two percent of the herbicide broke down after 28 days, which means it readily persists in the environment! This chemical is now showing up in air and rain samples across the United States.
Further, researchers have linked glyphosate to Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS), a serious plant disease, in many fields around the world. Numerous studies have shown that glyphosate is contributing not only to the huge increase in SDS, but also to the outbreak of some 40 different plant and crop diseases! It weakens plants and promotes disease in a number of ways, including:
·         Acting as a chelator of vital nutrients, depriving plants of the nutrients necessary for healthy plant function
·         Destroying beneficial soil organisms that suppress disease-causing organisms and help plants absorb nutrients
·         Interfering with photosynthesis, reducing water use efficiency, shortening root systems and causing plants to release sugars, which changes soil pH
·         Stunting and weakening plant growth
The herbicide doesn't destroy plants directly; instead, it creates a unique "perfect storm" of conditions that activatesdisease-causing organisms in the soil, while at the same time wiping out plant defenses against those diseases. So the glyphosate not only weakens plants, it actually changes the makeup of the soil and boosts the number of disease-causing organisms, which is becoming a deadly recipe for crops around the globe.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is finally looking into the damaging effects of glyphosate on humans and the environment and plans to make a decision regarding its future by 2015. At that time, Roundup could either continue to be used as it is now, be required to have some modifications to its use or be banned from use entirely in the United States.

Monsanto Forces Farmers to Buy New Seeds Every Year
One of Monsanto's biggest assaults to your food supply is what's known as terminator technology—which they hope to deploy soon. These are seeds that have been genetically modified to "self-destruct." In other words, the seeds (and the forthcoming crops) are sterile, which means farmers must buy them again each year.
The implications that terminator seeds could have on the world's food supply are disastrous: the traits from genetically engineered crops can get passed on to other crops. Once the terminator seeds are released into a region, the trait of seed sterility could be passed to other non-genetically-engineered crops, making most or all of the seeds in the region sterile.
If allowed to continue, every farmer in the world could come to rely on Monsanto for their seed supply!

An article by Dr. Josh Axe state that a recent study published in the journal of Food and Chemical Toxicology is proving genetically modified organisms (GMO) may cause kidney damage, liver failure and early death. Until recently there were no long term studies done on GMO’s but the more we learn, the more we’re realizing how dangerous these “frankenfoods” really are.
Health Concerns with GMO Foods

According to reports, individuals who consumed GMO’s also experienced the following side effects:
  •      Increase in allergies
  •      Increase in antibiotic resistance
  •      Problems with endocrine system
  •      Disorders of the reproductive system
  •      Increase in aging symptoms
  •      Cancerous Tumor growth
A 10-year study in Norway has found GMO’s may cause obesity, digestive problems, and damage to major organs including liver, kidneys, pancreas and genitals.

Another article posted on Collective-Evolution.com outline 10 Scientific Studies Proving GMOs Can Be Harmful To Human Health.

Another article posted by health author Christina Sarich reveals that an aforementioned title was published in The Journal of Organic Systems. It is full of very detailed evidence of the link between genetically modified ingredients and 22 diseases such as liver failure, urinary and bladder cancers, hypertension, thyroid disease, stroke, obesity, and more. It is replete with telling charts and graphs that describe visually the mayhem that GMOs have unleashed on society.

Top 10 Worst GMO Foods for Your GMO Foods List.

1. Corn
One of the most prominent GMO foods, avoiding corn is a no-brainer. If you’ve watched any food documentary, you know corn is highly modified. “As many as half of all U.S. farms growing corn for Monsanto are using genetically modified corn,” and much of it is intended for human consumption. Monsanto’s GMO corn has been tied to numerous health issues, including weight gain and organ disruption.

2. Soy
Found in tofu, vegetarian products, soybean oil, soy flour, and numerous other products, soy is also modified to resist herbicides. As of now, biotech giant Monsanto still has a tight grasp on the soybean market, with approximately 90 percent of soy being genetically engineered to resist Monsanto’s herbicide Roundup. In one single year, 2006, there was 96.7 million pounds of glyphosate sprayed on soybeans alone.

3. Sugar
According to NaturalNews, genetically-modified sugar beets were introduced to the U.S. market in 2009. Like others, they’ve been modified by Monsanto to resist herbicides. Monsanto has even had USDA and court-related issues with the planting of it’s sugarbeets, being ordered to remove seeds from the soil due to illegal approval.

4. Aspartame
Even ants don’t want GMO’s or aspartame.
Do you want to give your body aspartame?

4. Aspartame
Aspartame is a toxic additive used in numerous food products, and should be avoided for numerous reasons, including the fact that it is created with genetically modified bacteria.

5. Papayas
This one may come as a surprise to all of you tropical-fruit lovers. GMO papayas have been grown in Hawaii for consumption since 1999. Though they can’t be sold to countries in the European Union, they are welcome with open arms in the U.S. and Canada.

6. Canola
6. Canola
One of the most chemically altered foods in the U.S. diet, canola oil is obtained from rapeseed through a series of chemical actions.

7. Cotton
Found in cotton oil, cotton originating in India and China in particular has serious risks.

8. Dairy
Your dairy products may contain growth hormones, since as many as one-fifth of all dairy cows in America are pumped with these hormones. In fact, Monasnto’s health-hazardous rBGH has been banned in 27 countries, but is still in most US cows. If you must drink milk, buy organic.

9. and 10. Zucchini and Yellow Squash
Closely related, these two squash varieties are modified to resist viruses. The dangers of some of these foods are well-known. The Bt toxin being used in GMO corn, for example, was recently detected in the blood of pregnant women and their babies. But perhaps what is more frightening is the risks are still unknown. Even while these foods should be on your GMO foods list so that they are avoided, you can buy 100% organic to be safest.

How to Protect Yourself: Get GMOs Out of your Body.

You cannot escape exposure to toxins in these modem world. Environmental toxins are responsible for many cancers, neurological diseases, heart disease, strokes etc. you name it. Our bodies do have a built-in detox function to deal with these dangers, but those systems are constantly overloaded! You can only limit it effect on your health with regular detoxification. Detoxing assists and improves what our bodies are trying to do naturally.

How to Avoid GMO Foods
Know the most commonly modified crops. Soybeans, corn, cotton (for oil), canola (for oil), squash, zucchini and papaya are all popular GMOs. Find other GM crops.
Buy organic foods. Organic foods are grown from non-GMO seeds.
Buy meats from grass-fed animals. Cows, chickens, pigs and even farmed fish are often on a diet of genetically modified corn or alfalfa. Check that your meat is from animals that are grass-fed or pasture-fed.
Read the labels. The top two genetically modified crops are corn and soy. They’re also the most widely used ingredients. Avoid products that contain ingredients like corn syrup and soy lecithin.
Buy brands labeled as non-GM or GMO free. Some products are labeled as non-GM or GMO-free. Meaning, they do not use genetically modified ingredients. GMO-free food sources are listed on the Non-GMO Project website.
Shop at local farmers markets. Most GM foods come from large industrial farms. Shop at local farmers markets or sign-up for a co-op.

Follow these steps and you can be GMO free and help spread the word about the dangers of GMO’s.
